Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Everyday has the potential of becoming a total unique moment in ones life, depending on where you are in the world, what events are unfolding and most important, what moment you were there. My story was I had just turn a corner at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, while looking ahead up the path at some summer blooms and then I suddenly realized that I had totally walk up and surprised a hawk which was perched upon a sign looking into a small area in the tall green grass. I froze solid as we both turn our attention at each other and we starred right at each other for a moment. After what seemed 15 seconds, he resumed his prior activity, hopping down into the grass and begin to roll around a bit. I was not exactly sure what he was up to so I decided to prepared my camera. About that time he poped back up on the sign again and was still looking directly at me. As we both seem to find this unique and non-threatening, I decided to take the photo before the moment left. I slowly moved my camera up and somehow framed a photo before he flew off. I don't exactly know what the moment represented, but it was cool, and I think we made friends.

Texaco Country Showdown 2012

Photo Album  The Texaco Country Showdown Event had a great showing Tuesday Night at the Tin Roof Bar located in the Lakeview District in downtown Birmingham. The hosts for the event were Patti and Dollar Bill, of The Bull 102.5 radio station. The final judging and decision for the Birmingham Finals, was decided last night and, "Who Shot Lizzy", was declared the winner. There were many very talented singers and song writers who provided strong competition. Some of the other artist I captured in photos above were, Kate Falcon, Chelsea Love, Travis Posey, Mike Kennedy, Ashland Taylor, Tommy Crower Band, Matt Bennett, Blake Scott Band.

Have you ever seen this sign?

One never knows what one can see today along the Interstates and Highways of Alabama. As long as I can remember this sign has been there, silently lying on the levy beside the ever flowing water mill, spinning it's story. I was justing thinking to myself, boy would I like to be a fish in that pond, so that I may catch the scoop on this unique scene near Prattville. As long as I have traveled from Birmingham to Montgomery, this location has always caught my attention and caused me to wonder, "Where did that come from?" I am sure someone knows the scoop on this story, and might provide some clues about how long it has been there and spill any other interesting facts about the sign on the levy. There has got to be more to the story!
